Schroders has hired an Aberdeen portfolio manager as its head of credit research.

Schroder Investment Management Australia has appointed Stuart Gray as fixed income fund manager and head of credit research.

Gray, who will join the firm later this month, comes from Aberdeen Asset Management, where he was a fixed income portfolio manager.

At Schroders, he will have responsibility for the selection of Australian investment-grade debt securities and he will report to Schroders head of fixed income and multi-asset Simon Doyle.

Gray has been with Aberdeen since 2007, when the company acquired Deutsche Asset Management, but he has been part of the fixed income team since 2000, when he joined Deutsche as a senior credit analyst.

Aberdeen head of Australian fixed income Victor Rodriguez and portfolio manager Nick Bishop will assume Gray's responsibilities.

The firm's credit analyst Nerissa Chew has also left the team to travel.

Aberdeen has also restructured its Australian equities team and Robert Penaloza is taking over as head of Australian equities from Mark Daniels.

Daniels will remain on the team as investment director.

Penaloza joined the Australian business in March 2010 from Aberdeen's Singapore office, where he was a senior investment manager in Aberdeen's Asian equities team.
