Equity Trustees has received the ministerial approval necessary to acquire ANZ Trustees.

In an ASX statement, Equity Trustees said acting assistant treasurer Mathias Cormann had provided requisite approval pursuant to section 601VBB of the Corporations Act 2001.

InvestorDaily reported in April that ANZ had entered an agreement with Equity Trustees for $150 million.

Equity Trustees said the sale and purchase agreement with ANZ is now unconditional and that EQT and ANZ are well advanced with the transition program for ANZ Trustees.

“The relevant employees at ANZ Trustees have now signed new employment agreements with EQT, the client contact program is well advanced and project teams have been formed to manage the transition and integration of the two businesses,” said Equity Trustees.

“EQT looks forward to a smooth transition of ANZ Trustees on the targeted completion date of Friday 4 July 2014, and is very pleased with the positive engagement we have experienced with the ANZ Group throughout the transaction process to date.”
