National Australia Bank’s (NAB's) Asset Servicing business has been re-appointed to provide custodial services to fund manager client UBS Global Asset Management (UBSGAM) in Australia for a further three years, extending a nine-year relationship.

NAB Asset Servicing said it has provided custodial support and services to UBSGAM in Australia since 2004.

Ben Heap, UBS managing director and head of Australia and New Zealand, said the NAB offering fitted the requirements of UBS, particularly given that all decisions are made locally.

“NAB Asset Servicing consistently offers high quality service and support to UBS. The local presence of the NAB team plays a pivotal role in our queries being answered quickly and readily,” he said.

“Also, the local expertise of NAB Asset Servicing – the breadth of knowledge and experience in critical areas such as accounting and tax, fund services and unit pricing – was also a factor in our decision to reappoint them.”

The unit registry solution offered by NAB Asset Servicing also played a role in the extension of the UBS and NAB Asset Servicing relationship. NAB said its future new proprietary unit registry system, ASTRA, will enrich service quality for customers, with an improved look and feel.
