McNamee takes top accountant award

Two finance heavyweights won gongs at the annual chartered accountants awards, while CSL took home the blue ribbon event.

Chief executive of CSL, Dr Brian McNamee, has won the annual institute of chartered accountants business leader award.

"In receiving the overall business leader award Dr Brian McNamee has demonstrated excellence in translating vision into reality, exhibiting best practice, fostering good employee relations and leading by example in the arenas of social and corporate responsibility," Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia chief executive Graham Meyer.

McNamee said he was honoured to receive the award.

Other winners on the night included Stockland managing director Matthew Quinn, who won in the property and finance sector, while the outstanding chartered accountant in business award winner was Babcock Brown managing director and chief executive Phillip Green.

 
 

Previous winners of the business leader award included Macquarie Bank chief executive Allan Moss.
