Lloyds Bank has added to its institutional foreign exchange sales team in Australia.

Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) has appointed Paul Bernasconi to the newly-created role of foreign exchange institutional sales director for Australia and New Zealand.

Bernasconi will be responsible for developing and delivering core foreign exchange products and services to financial institutions in the region.

He joined the bank from UBS Investment Bank, where he was head of foreign exchange institutional sales.

Bernasconi has also held foreign exchange sales roles at ANZ Investment Bank in Sydney and business development positions with ABN AMRO Australia and Lehman Brothers in Tokyo.

He will report to LBCM head of sales in Australia Diana Lollato and to Lloyds Bank global head of foreign exchange sales Robert Garwood.

The new role reflects the bank's desire to build a global foreign exchange business.

The bank also appointed Nathan Pederson as forward foreign exchange trading director.

Pederson will lead the forward foreign exchange and short-term interest rates (STIR) business in the Asia-Pacific region.

He also joined from UBS Investment Bank, where he was head of Asia-Pacific STIR trading, based in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Pederson will report to LBCM head of trading in Australia Michael Peric.
