Henderson has appointed an Australian funds management executive director.

Henderson Global Investors has appointed Nick Evans as executive director of its Australian funds management business.

Evans was previously Henderson indirect property director in London.

In this role he was responsible for the indirect property team, which included Henderson's European property fund of funds.

"Nick's appointment is a reflection of our intention to build a strong business in Australia and his experience and skill set are well suited to help us determine and execute our business strategy," Henderson executive chairman of the Australian business Rob Adams said.

"As a successful portfolio manager himself, Nick has a clear understanding of managing money, building strong client relationships and creating a sustainable business," Adams said.

Henderson launched the Australian funds management business in May and hired Adams from Challenger Funds Management.

AMP, which owned the group until 2003, is one of the largest investors in Henderson's property funds.

Henderson also advises the Future Fund on European real estate.
