ANZ reshuffles executive roles

ANZ has appointed a new managing director of its Australian institutional business.

ANZ has reshuffled the executive team for its global institutional and Asia-Pacific, Europe and America divisions, after merging the two businesses into one group.

As a result of the measure, ANZ has appointed Cathryn Carver as institutional Australia managing director.

Carver will be based in Perth, which was recognition of the growing significance of the West Australian economy, the bank said.

Previously, she was ANZ global head of capital markets in Hong Kong.

 
 

She replaces Nigel Williams, who was appointed as ANZ chief risk officer in November last year.

After Williams's appointment, Christine Tonkin, ANZ managing director of global loans and transaction banking, took on the responsibility of institutional Australia acting managing director.

The remaining changes largely involve confirmations of previous positions within the two divisions, with Michael Rowland as Pacific chief executive in Melbourne, Giles Plante as Asia chief executive in Hong Kong and Mark Robinson as America, Middle East and India chief executive in London.

The appointments are effective 1 March and all roles report to the chief executive of the merged division, Alex Thursby.

"Our new organisation structure and senior appointments will help provide a seamless cross-border proposition, connecting our customers with intra-regional trade and investment flows across Asia, the Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America," Thursby said.
