The FSC has appointed Schroders' chief executive as its deputy chairman.

Cooper has been a director of the FSC for three years and co-chairs the organisation's investment board committee.

He now joins the FSC's administration and risk board committee and nominations board committee.

Cooper's appointment follows the resignation from the board of Michael Bargholz, who announced he was stepping down after he left his role as AllianceBernstein chief executive.

Other executive members of the board include chairman Peter Maher, who is also Macquarie Bank head of banking and financial services group, and deputy chairman Brian Bissaker, who is chief executive of Colonial First State.

"Greg is a very talented leader in the investment management community and we are pleased to have him increase his involvement with the Financial Services Council as deputy chairman," Maher said.
