A UBS Australian bond fund manager has left the firm.

UBS Global Asset Management portfolio manager of the Australian bond fund Adam Bowe will leave the company in the next few weeks.

Bowe has been portfolio manager of the bond fund since 2005.

"I can confirm that Adam will be leaving UBS to pursue other opportunities in the financial services industry," UBS head of fixed interest Asia Pacific Anne Anderson said.

"We are currently in the market for an experienced fixed interest portfolio manager to replace Adam," she said.

The Australian fixed income team will also add an additional member to the team in March this year with the appointment of Tim van Klaveren as senior portfolio manager.

He will assume responsibility of the Australian bond fund.

"We are increasing the experience of the team," Anderson said.

Van Klaveren is currently based in UBS' London office, where he has been working for seven years as part of the global fixed income team.

Before moving to London, Van Klaveren worked in the Australian fixed income team for nine years.

Standard & Poor's (S&P) has put the UBS Australian bond fund on hold following the departure of Bowe and has removed the fund from its annual review of Australian fixed income managers.

The fund, which has about $710 million in funds under management, was previously rated four stars by S&P.
