Christian Super has hired Peter Murphy as its chief executive.

Christian Super has hired Peter Murphy as its chief executive.

Murphy was formerly a fund manager at Macquarie Bank, but has spent the past decade working for various Christian organisations.

He said Christian Super members wanted good returns but not at the expense of their ethics.

"As Christians, our members don't want a Fund that pursues returns in isolation from their principles," he said.

"Therefore, the move to a 100 per cent ethical fund has resonated with our members as they want a superannuation fund reflective of their Christian commitment, without compromising financial returns."

Murphy will start at the fund in February 2008. He replaced Paul Beckmann who left in October.
