Macquarie has promoted Neil Carter to co-head of the firm's smaller companies team, alongside John Bugg.

Carter joined Macquarie Bank in March 2006 as a senior portfolio manager.

He was previously the founder and director of hedge fund Rutherglen Capital and also worked as a broker at ABN Amro in Europe.
