The industry super fund hires a business development manager as it looks to build its membership.

The New South Wales Electrical Superannuation Scheme (NESS) has hired Mynas Leontios as a business development manager.

In the job, Leontios will implement strategies to grow the membership of the fund with employers and employees.

Leontios has over 21 years of experience in financial services, including jobs with Colonial First State, Chifley Financial Services and Asgard.

His last job was with corporate superannuation trustee business CCSL.

"The directors of our board felt it was time to appoint a business development manager as part of a strategy to grow our fund," NESS chief executive Phil Hirshbein said.

The decision to appoint Leontios follows a recent overhaul of the fund's branding and website.

"Having a field staff member will help us promote our new brand and ensure our members understand our products and services," Hirshbein said.

NESS manages $350 million in funds under management and has 16,000 members.

Hirshbein said the fund acknowledged it needed to grow its business in order to achieve economies of scale for its members.

"That is why we felt it was important we had someone in the field talking to our members. We offer a very personalised service to our members," he said.

"Members can contact me directly. We don't hide behind a call centre."
