Zurich has dropped Challenger from its multi-sector fund.

Financial services company Zurich has appointed boutique fund manager Above The Index Asset Management (ATI), replacing Challenger.

ATI will manage 25 per cent of the firm's $100 million Australian equities portfolio of multi-sector funds.

The boutique manager joins Schroder and State Street in the Australian manager line-up.

"If we can provide better managers to our suite of investment products, then we will," a Zurich spokesperson said.

"We liked Above The Index's superior technology platform. It is well above its peers and it is a very research-focused team."

ATI already manages Zurich's Australian Value Share Fund. The firm is 37 per cent owned by boutique incubator Ascalon Capital Managers.
