The industry superannuation fund appoints former CFS chief to its $21 billion fund.

UniSuper has appointed John Pearce as chief investment officer of its $21 billion fund.

Pearce replaces David St John, who left UniSuper in March after eight years with the superannuation fund.

Pearce was formerly chief executive officer of Colonial First State, a role he held from 2000 to 2006.

His most recent role was with Chinese insurance company Ping An as head of global asset management. He has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of such an accomplished and capable investment professional to lead our investment team," UniSuper chief executive Terry McCredden said.

Pearce will lead the fund's 24 investment professional team. He will start his job at UniSuper in July 2009.
