Colonial adds to infrastructure business

Global investment manager secures talent from the corporate sector to grow the business.

Colonial First State Global Asset Management continues to build its infrastructure business, hiring former GasNet chief executive, Christine O'Reilly as global head of asset management and infrastructure.

The investment manager has also hired Toll Group national commercial manager Chris McArthur as a senior asset manager for its infrastructure business.

"O'Reilly is one of the most respected chief executives in her field. Her skills will be invaluable to our growing, global infrastructure investments," Colonial head of property and alternative investments James O'Leary said.

O'Reilly is a board member of infrastructure companies, VicTrack, Vencorp, Australian Pipeline Industry Association and Australian Gas Industry Education Trust.

As part of her job, O'Reilly will be represented on the boards of Colonial's infrastructure assets.

 
 

McArthur led commercial negotiations on behalf of the Toll Group during Pacific National's sale-back of the Victorian regional rail network to the Victorian Government.

"These appointments add further skills and experience to our growing infrastructure business and reflect the implementation of our strategy to add specialist asset management experience into our business," O'Reilly said.

Colonial's global asset management business has more than 190 people and manages in excess of $130 billion in funds under management.
