ESI Super upgrades online portal

With a high proportion of its members living in regional areas, ESI Super realised it was time to upgrade its online education system.

Regional members of $2.8 billion industry fund ESI Super will now have access to better superannuation and financial planning information after an upgrade of the fund's online learning centre.

The system has been improved with audio-visual modules that cover topics such as insurance, money tips, estate planning, transition to retirement and salary sacrificing and there are plans to continually bolster the offering.

"This is because our member research shows that members expect us to keep them informed and let them know of any developments in superannuation and retirement planning which impact on them," ESI Super chief executive Robyn Petrou said.

Member response to online tools has been positive so far.

According to ESI Super research, some members visited the website 200 times a year and on average it received 2355 hits a week.

"This is compared to benchmarked industry sites which receive an average 1271 visits per week. By bolstering the online learning centre we hope to cater to this growing market," Petrou said.

ESI Super has a focus on workers in the energy industry and, as a result, 59 per cent of its members live in regional areas such as Townsville and Rockhampton.

Petrou said the online learning centre was a way of giving all members an equal level of service.

"While we make a conscious effort to meet our members face-to-face as much as possible through workplace visits, local seminars and financial planning sessions, it is important members are able to access the information they want, when they want it," she said.
