AIP poaches MetLife sales head

Insurer AIP has a new GM in the form of Aaron Stockeld, who only weeks ago clinched a senior position at MetLife.

Less than a month after his appointment as head of institutional insurance distribution at MetLife, Aaron Stockeld has left to take up a senior position at insurer Australian Income Protection (AIP).

From 10 May, Stockeld will fill the role of general manager at AIP and report to AIP managing director Ted Lovelee.

AIP national sales manager Michael Burke told Investor Weekly that Stockeld will have a particular focus on sales.

"We have a big advantage as a lot of our life insurance competitors will not cover casual employees, whereas we will cover them regardless," Burke said.

A MetLife spokesperson said the insurer was currently recruiting to fill the gap left by Stockeld.

In mid April, MetLife announced it was restructuring its marketing and distribution team in Australia, creating five new teams and internal appointments.

Stockeld had previously worked in the institutional business development team and was head of institutional insurance distribution.

He joined MetLife in March 2006 as an institutional business development manager working under Burke, who was then the MetLife head of institutional business.

Prior to this Stockeld was also employed at CommInsure.
