There is more movement at AIA Australia, with head of group insurance Damien Mu taking over the reins as chief distribution and marketing officer.

One of Australia's largest group insurers, AIA Australia, has promoted its head of group insurance, Damien Mu, to the position of chief distribution and marketing officer.

Reporting to chief executive Damien Green, Mu will oversee all the distribution channels for the insurer's retail individual life business, the group insurance business and the direct marketing business.

He will oversee around 70 staff and work with the heads of each channel to grow and retain current clients.

Mu joined AIA Australia three years ago as national manager for client development and after 12 months was promoted to the position of head of group insurance.

Prior to this he was the operations manager for AustralianSuper at Superpartners.

This announcement comes on the back of Green's appointment as chief executive last week.

Green took over the top job from Stuart Harrison, who left the insurer to take up a position with Axa General Insurance Hong Kong in May.
