AIA Australia appoints former general manager to the top job.

After a search of almost six months, AIA Australia has appointed Damien Green as its new chief executive.

He takes over from former chief executive Stuart Harrison, who left the insurer to take up a position with AXA General Insurance Hong Kong in May this year.

Prior to his appointment Green was acting chief executive and before this was AIA Australia's general manager insurance.

"I am confident that Damien will lead the company in a manner that maintains its reputation for strong business partnerships and service quality," AIA group chief executive and president Mark Wilson said.

Green has a strong background in group insurance, having joined AIA Australia in 2006 as head of group insurance.

He has also held the positions of general manager of business development at AustralianSuper and national manager of business development for the Superannuation Trust of Australia.

AIA Australia is currently one of the country's largest insurers in the group space.

Green plans to focus on quality customer service and nurturing a results-driven culture.

"The AIA Australia team has played a pivotal role in maturing our business into a customer and delivery-centric organisation and I'm proud to be leading the company into the future," Green said.

"I'm looking forward to this new challenge and leading an already successful business to even greater heights."
