Well-known business analyst Brian Johnson resurfaces at CLSA after resigning from JP Morgan after 14 years.

Former JP Morgan bank analyst Brian Johnson has resurfaced at rival stockbroking firm and Credit Lyonnais subsidiary CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets (CLSA).

According to a CLSA spokesperson, Johnson has been appointed as a business analyst for Australia.

He will cover Australian banks and financial stocks and provide analysis of the sector to CLSA's global and domestic clients.

He will be based in the Sydney office and will report to CLSA head of Australian research Neel Sinha and CLSA head of regional bank research Daniel Tabbush.

Johnson resigned from JP Morgan in January and will take up the CLSA position this month.

"Brian is a natural fit to CLSA's award-winning research team and we are delighted to have him joining us at a time when global investors are seeking in-depth analysis and insight into regional stocks," CLSA chief operating officer Robert Reid said.

Johnson spent 14 years at JP Morgan and its predecessor Ord Minnett and has been replaced by his deputy Scott Manning.

CLSA is headquartered in Hong Kong and is an independent brokerage and investment group.

The company provides investment banking, capital markets, equity broking and asset management to global corporate and institutional clients.
