The Morrison Government has outlined its long-awaited recovery plans.

In an address to the National Press Club, Prime Minister Scott Morrison launched the government’s economic recovery plan, the centrepiece of which will be a ‘JobMaker’ plan.

“We need a JobMaker plan for a new generation of economic success, that can guarantee the essentials that Australians rely on,” Mr Morrison said. “As we reset for growth, our JobMaker plan will be guided by the principles that we, as Liberals and Nationals, have always believed in – to secure Australia's future and put people first in our economy.”

JobMaker will focus on revamping skills and training for workers, as well as reducing program and qualification complexity in order to improve employment outcomes. The government has already launched three pilot programs.

Mr Morrison also said that Australia would not sink into protectionism in the face of trade disputes and hinted at an overhaul of the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, while signalling a potential deregulatory agenda.

More to come.
