NGS Super CEO Laura Wright has confirmed her retirement after 35 years in superannuation, including 20 years at the industry super fund.

Ms Wright was originally a director of NGS Super for its first six years from 1988 and was also the super fund’s chair in 1993–1994. She then held operations and governance executive roles beginning in 2008 before being appointed CEO in 2018.

Throughout her career, she held senior management roles at Suncorp, AAS and Superpartners. Commenting on the departure, NGS Super chair Dick Shearman said that Ms Wright had made a significant contribution to the industry overall and in particular to NGS Super.

“Her commitment both personally and professionally to advancing the interests of members is outstanding and she is leaving the fund in excellent shape for the future,” he said.

“Laura will be greatly missed as both a leader, colleague and advocate for members and the fund and we wish her all the best in retirement.”

While the super fund’s board recruits a new permanent CEO, Natalie Previtera has been appointed as acting CEO. She has over 20 years of experience in financial services and has been with NGS Super since 2019 and was most recently its chief risk and governance officer.

NGS Super also recently announced the appointment of Susan Ding as senior manager of international shares and Johnny Lambridis as senior manager of Australian shares.

The super fund said that these new hires would further secure its pathway towards reaching a carbon-neutral investment portfolio by 2030, which was highlighted as a priority for the fund.

It is also targeting a 35 per cent reduction in carbon across its investment portfolio by 2025 and has recently divested from oil and gas exploration and production companies.
