Global investment manager Standard Life Investments has appointed two new members to its global strategy team.

Chris Faulkner-MacDonagh and Alex Wolf have been appointed to Standard Life’s global strategy team to be based in Edinburgh, which it says is in an effort to “enhance its multi-asset expertise”.

In a statement from the global investment manager, Standard Life said Mr Faulkner-MacDonagh, who joins the team from Ziff Brothers Investments, will join the team as market strategist.

Standard Life said Mr Wolf will join the team as an emerging market economist, and will be responsible for analysing “key emerging markets” such as China and India.

Prior to joining Standard Life, Mr Wolf worked for a number of years as a US diplomat in Beijing and Taipei, and also worked for Lehman Brothers.

Standard Life Investments head of macro and multi-asset investing Guy Stern said Mr Faulkner-MacDonagh and Mr Wolf will help support its “house view”, which has “added significant value” to its clients’ portfolios.

“[Mr Faulkner-MacDonagh] and [Mr Wolf] will complement the spectrum of investment knowledge and expertise currently held by our multi-asset team, deepening our understanding of emerging markets and the major asset classes,” Mr Stern said.
