A new chief executive and regional managing partner for EY's Oceania operations has been announced, to replace outgoing CEO Rob McLeod.

Tony Johnson, currently regional managing partner for the Asia-Pacific financial services office, will take on the new role, effective 1 January 2015.

“Tony has operated at the most senior levels of EY including serving some of the world’s largest and most prestigious organisations,” said EY Asia-Pacific chairman Michael Wachtel.

“Tony brings to the role an excellent reputation for working with key stakeholders including boards, audit committees, senior management and regulators and is passionate about providing exceptional client service and engaging with both the market and EY teams.”

Mr Johnson has been an EY partner for over 16 years, leading the firm’s Oceania Assurance practice between 2009 and 2012. He has also been an active member of a number of Australian, Asia-Pacific and global executive leadership committees within the firm.

“All the different experiences Tony has had in his career to date provide the optimal background for a leader in the rapidly changing professional services environment,” Mr Wachtel said.

“Tony also brings a great deal of value to the Oceania business having been a leader in Asia Pacific.”

Current CEO and Oceania managing partner Rob McLeod announced he will step down from the role in September.
