CPA Australia has appointed a new president and chair following the departure of Penny Egan.

Current deputy president and board director Graeme Wade will fill Ms Egan’s position.

Mr Wade has operated at partner level in public practice for more than 25 years and has consulted widely across both the public and private sector.

He said he was pleased to be leading the board over the next 12 months and humbled to have been nominated by his colleagues to take on the role of president and chairman.

He also thanked Ms Egan for her time as chair.

“Penny has a proven track record in leadership, which she brought to her role as CPA Australia’s president,” he said.

“We have never been on a stronger, more sustainable footing and her contribution in achieving that has been immense.”

In other changes, Peter Dowling AM FCPA and Professor Tyrone Carlin FCPA have been elected as deputy presidents while David Spong FCPA and Michele Dolin FCPA have been elected as member directors.

Former minister Richard Alston has been elected a non-member director and Professor Richard Petty FCPA has been re-elected for a further term.

Directors Bruce Trebilcock FCPA, Christina Foo FCPA and Mark Grey have all retired from the board.

Mr Wade also thanked the other retiring directors for their time on the board.

“Throughout their tenures, Bruce, Christina and Mark have all made outstanding contributions to CPA Australia,” he said.

“Their professionalism and commitment will be missed and all members owe them a debt of gratitude for the part they have played in our success.”
