John O'Brien has parted ways with research firm, van Eyk Research.

John O'Brien has stepped down from his post as head of research with van Eyk Research.

O'Brien left his role this month after more than two years with the research firm.

"John decided to leave his role to pursue other opportunities, and we wish him well," a van Eyk spokesperson told InvestorDaily.

O'Brien's departure comes at a time of strategic change for van Eyk.

"Van Eyk has implemented a number of important strategic changes over the past six months designed to deliver more alpha for our clients," the spokesperson

"These changes have been announced previously and have involved some changes to the responsibilities of key staff. John's departure has enabled us to accelerate these changes."

As part of the changes, strategic research functions have been taken on by Jonathan Ramsay in the expanded role of head of strategic research.

Matthew Olsen, who has been head of ratings for more than 12 months, has also taken on an expanded role with respect to portfolio construction for the Blueprint series of funds.

"Additionally, senior research analyst Tom Cottam, who has 40 years investment experience and is a former Head of Research at van Eyk, has had his research role expanded," the spokesperson said.

"We are also seeking to employ an additional senior research analyst.

"Van Eyk is comfortable that it has the right strategy in place with the right people to move forward on a strong footing."
