Grahame Evans is considering his career options though intends to remain in Australia's financial advice industry after departing from Centrepoint Wealth.

Professional Investment Services' group managing director Grahame Evans plans to remain within Australia's financial advisory sector following his departure from Centrepoint Wealth.

Evans told InvestorDaily he is considering his options in terms of his next move, and believes the government's Future of Financial Advice (FOFA) reform will provide opportunities. His finishes up with Centrepoint today.

"[I'll] absolutely remain. I can't see myself moving out of the industry. it's a great industry to be in," he said.

"I'm a little bit more positive than some people. The changes create an opportunity for people to rethink things, and realign [their businesses] to make sure they have the end client in focus and look forward to the next stage of growth at the market."

Evans said he is in discussions with a number of people regarding his next step, though nothing concrete has been finalised.

In terms of immediate plans, he will be taking a "step back" and looking at the opportunities around him and match his skills with the right role.

He is also working on an industry white paper entitled 'What part will you play? The paper seeks to address what segments Australia's advice industry will service in a changing market.

Commenting on his departure from Centrepoint, Evans said: "We leave on good terms, [Centrepoint managing director Tony Robinson] runs a great business and he's had a very difficult first 12 to 18 months following the merger [of Centrepoint Alliance and PIS], but this business has extremely strong attributes and I'm expecting it to move forward."

In April, Robinson told InvestorDaily Evans would depart the company and his roles as group managing director and Centrepoint board member in early June.

"Graham is stepping down from his roles from within the group," Robinson said at the time.

Evans's departure from the listed financial services firm was made "by agreement" and flowed from changes within the business, he said.

"Grahame has been a strong contributor. His counsel, resilience and insight will be difficult to replace," he said.

Centrepoint purchased PIS in December 2010.
