Mark Blair will join the group this month as a principal and new head of superannuation.

Rice Warner has appointed a new head of superannuation as part of its strategy to expand its consulting services within the financial services sector.

As well as heading up the superannuation consultancy division, Mark Blair will join the actuarial firm as a principal on his commencement this month.

Blair will report directly to chief executive Michael Rice and lead state teams comprised of three staff in Melbourne, four or five staff in Sydney and one consultant in Brisbane.

"His main responsibilities are to lead that group and to grow the super consulting practice," Rice Warner deputy chief executive Melissa Fuller said.

Blair's appointment comes as a response to the growing demand from the group's superannuation clients in the areas of strategic advice and product development.

He has extensive experience in the financial services industry spanning over 20 years, previously working for Pillar Administration, Russell Investments and Towers Watson in client consulting, account management and institutional sales and strategy roles.

Current head of superannuation Jeff Warner will remain as a Rice Warner director but will shift his focus to pure consulting in the superannuation practice once Blair starts.

Further shuffles or additions are not expected for the group at this stage, Fuller said.

"But if super continues to grow as it has been then we will probably look to hire more people," she said.
