The association has released a research paper addressing issues of MySuper.

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has released a research paper focusing on the federal government's low cost superannuation product, MySuper.

The paper, MySuper - strategic and operational considerations for superannuation funds, focuses on the proposals contained in MySuper legislation before the parliament and draft legislation.

The paper addresses a number of issues including the impact on fund members of the MySuper provisions; identification of MySuper members; and the implications for investment and fund choice for MySuper and Choice members.

It also examines the potential market for customised MySuper offerings, including new data on the number of firms with more than 500 employees; whitelabelling standard MySuper offerings; and insurance and MySuper offerings.

Industrial relations arrangements and implications; and the Productivity Commission review of criteria for default funds in awards is also contained in the paper.

The paper is designed for trustees, senior management of funds, and those involved in the implementation of changes, ASFA said.
