Andrew Gale has tendered his resignation as chief of Count.

Andrew Gale has resigned from his post as chief executive of Count Financial (Count).

Gale offered his resignation as chief, managing director and director of Count's related entities yesterday.

The Count board has accepted his notice of resignation.

Gale will be replaced as chief by Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) general manager, strategic development wealth management David Lane effective immediately.

Lane joined CBA in March 2010.

Count chairman Barry Lambert thanked Gale for the "significant contribution" he had made to the group during the past 20 months.

"Count appreciates Andrew's work during difficult market conditions and his leadership of the company during the transition with [CBA]," a company statement filed to the Australian Securities Exchange said.

"Count wishes Andrew all the best in his future endeavours."
