Macquarie has undergone an internal reshuffle, appointing a new head for its Coin software.

Coin Financial Software has a new leader following the internal promotion of Robert McCabe to a new role within Macquarie Banking and Financial Services Group.

McCabe will be replaced by existing Macquarie staffer Kirk Pitman as the new head of Coin product and technology.

Pitman joined Macquarie in December 2009 to lead the mortgage intermediary investment team and was part of the project that helped create Vow Financial.

"Kirk Pitman has a high level of technical knowledge and a sound understanding of Macquarie clients and I am certain he will be able to take Coin to the next level and continue to understand and address our clients' needs," Macquarie Adviser Services executive director Frank Ganis said.

Ganis said Macquarie regularly provided its people with opportunities to progress their careers within the organisation and, after two years at the helm of Coin, McCabe was moving into a new central role within Macquarie Banking and Financial Services Group.

Prior to joining Macquarie, Pitman was responsible for the mortgage intermediary strategy and channel development at St George Bank.

Pitman worked in Asia and Australia for consulting firm Accenture and was a human resources consultant specialising in organisational design.

He will be spending the next few months meeting Coin clients with McCabe before the official hand over on 1 October.
