Macquarie Life has provided advisers with an improved facility for medical assessment processes through a new partnership.

Macquarie Life has improved the process financial advisers need to follow for medical assessments through a new agreement with the nation's leading provider of integrated medical evidence, UHG.

The partnership will allow financial planners using Macquarie Life's cover to send relevant medical information electronically, thus eliminating any labour-intensive procedures previously followed.

It also means medical requests can be submitted as soon as an underwriter's assessment or life insurance application form has been comopleted.

The development will be facilitated through the use of an automated version of UHG's Unifier platform, which is now directly integrated into the Macquarie Life online platform.

"The new solution will streamline the collection of medical information required by life insurance companies, reducing the time it takes to process a new policy or assess a claim, so it is a win for planners and their customers," UHG managing director Dr Brandon Carp said.

From now, advisers using the Macquarie Life online site will be able track the progress of all pending medical assessments at a detailed level.

"By using Unifier, we are helping to remove what can often be a time-consuming administrative process and streamlining the medical assessments process for advisers, allowing them to focus on where they can add most value, which is advising their clients," Macquarie Adviser Services head of insurance and platforms Justin Delaney said.

"At Macquarie Life we are always looking for ways to help advisers work more efficiently and technology has a big part to play in delivering these solutions."
