Listed financial services firm Yellow Brick Road (YBR)  has appointed a new chief executive as a result of the firm's business deal with Nine Entertainment Group.

Earlier this month, YBR informed the market it had selected Matt Lawler as its new chief and undertaken a restructure of its group executive committee, which is chaired by company founder Mark Bouris.

Lawler joins YBR from National Australia Bank (NAB), where he held the position as NAB Broker executive general manager.

Prior to his time with NAB, Lawler held senior positions at NAB wealth division MLC as executive general manager of financial planning and third party responsible for MLC's advice businesses, including the role of responsible officer under various Australian financial services licences.

He was also a director on the boards of MLC Financial Planning, Garvan Financial Planning, Apogee, Godfrey Pembroke and NAB Financial Planning.

Under the restructure, there are now seven executive roles: executive chairman, chief executive, chief financial officer, head of retail, chief information officer, head of risk and compliance, and head of accounting.

The newly rejigged committee is responsible for the development and implementation of brand strategies, overseeing risk and compliance for YBR Group, and developing and being responsible for delivering on the aims of the company's business plan.

In April this year, YBR announced it was in discussions over a possible heads of agreement with Nine Entertainment Group over the purchase of a 19.9 per cent stake.
