Zurich Australia remains tight-lipped over claims three bidders are vying for its research division, Lonsec.

Zurich Australia has refused to make any comment on the possible sale of its research division, Lonsec, despite mounting speculation a sale is imminent.

Unconfirmed reports claim there are three live bidders, all of which are listed companies, vying for the research group.

It is understood the three unnamed bidders are made up of one small company and two companies with market capitalisations of more than $1 billion.

It is also believed the bidding for Lonsec is "down to the wire", with a possible sale announcement this week.

A Zurich spokesperson would not comment on any claims relating to the potential sale of Lonsec or speculate on any bidders.

"We don't comment on any speculation," the spokesperson said.

Industry talk about a Lonsec sale began last month, with speculation gaining momentum that a sale would result in Zurich selling off or selling down its stake in listed financial services firm DKN Financial Group.

Last week, DKN chief executive Phil Butterworth said there was no truth to rumours Zurich was looking to sell down or sell off its 30.99 per cent shareholding.
