SMSF practitioners and trustees are in the process of receiving an improved compliance software solution.

Financial services software specialists BGL Corporate Solutions is in the process of developing an internet based version of its compliance application for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), Simple Fund.

"We're looking at the moment to releasing full web versions of the software. At the moment it's a client server product with a web distribution enquiry facility," BGL managing director Ron Lesh told InvestorDaily.

When the process has been completed BGL will have two versions of the software, one that is suitable for trustees and another for professionals servicing the sector.

"The trustee edition will be released in the first quarter of next year and then the full professional edition will follow in the third quarter of next year," Lesh explained.

However Lesh pointed out users of Simple Fund will not have to wait until then to experience the functionality of the web version of the application.

"The functionality in that version we will be delivering is progressively starting now. We'll be doing it in stages as we go through the whole process," he said.

BGL is planning to release a version of the software this month already that will include some new features.

"There will be live reporting of member balances and all the information regarding the particular SMSF," Lesh said.

"In the past people have been able to request reports but this is now going to be all live web reporting," he added.
