Former ASIC superannuation executive to lead ASFA's policy team.

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has stepped up its involvement in reform consultation with the hiring of Louise du Pre-Alba to the position of director of policy.

The former ASIC senior executive leader superannuation was selected by ASFA chief executive Pauline Vamos and joins the association immediately.

"We have employed Louise du Pre-Alba as our new director of policy. Her first task will be to lead ASFA's consultation process around FoFA [Future of Financial Advice]," Vamos said.

"There's so much work to be done over the next couple of years. I don't have an expert on FoFA on staff and with Cooper implementation I wanted to bring somebody with very strong superannuation experience and regulatory experience and that's why we've done that."

Vamos said du Pre-Alba will meet with Treasury at the next round of consultation on 12 October.

"I met with the new minister for superannuation in Canberra last week and he made it very clear that the superannuation guarantee (SG), Cooper and FoFA were top priorities for this government," Vamos said.

"We will continue to advocate strongly for the increase in the SG, as well as ensure that the Cooper and FoFA recommendations are implemented appropriately."

David Graus will remain as ASFA general manager policy and industry practice.
