Deutsche Asset Management has hired Simon Brinsmead as a new investment specialist to be based in Sydney.

Deutsche Asset Management has appointed Simon Brinsmead as an investment specialist.

Brinsmead will be based in Sydney and will focus on consultant and institutional client relationships in the Australian market.

He will be responsible for supporting Deutsche Asset Management's fixed income client base, while Bill Barbour remains as the investment specialist for the firm's equity product offering.

Brinsmead has 10 years' experience in the asset management industry, with six years as an investment research analyst.

He most recently managed research relationships for BlackRock, working closely with the portfolio management group and providing technical guidance to the sales channel.

"Simon's appointment comes at a time when we are experiencing great momentum with our institutional clients," Deutsche Asset Management chief executive Stephen O'Brien said.

"Having recently won a number of significant mandates, Simon's technical skills combined with his relationship management experience will be warmly received by our growing client base."
