Simon McKeon will be joining the board of AMP Limited as of 27 March 2013, AMP has declared.
AMP chairman Peter Mason said Mr McKeon's "extensive banking experience and diverse portfolio of interests" will make him a valued contributor.
Mr McKeon is chairman of CSIRO and executive chairman of Macquarie Group, Melbourne. He studied at the University of Melbourne and holds degrees in law and commerce. He was voted Australian of the Year in 2011 and made an officer of the Order of Australia in 2012.
In addition, AMP Limited stated Dr Nora Scheinkestel has announced her intention to retire from the board at the next AGM, in accordance with AMP's board tenure guidelines, after nine years of service.
"Dr Scheinkestel's extensive knowledge, sound judgement, insight and governance expertise has proved invaluable and the board greatly appreciates her contribution to the company", the media release stated.
