CFSGAM creates new senior leadership role

Key changes made to senior team

Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) has made a series of changes to its senior leadership team as it makes way for the creation of a new role.

Michael Stapleton has been appointed to the newly-created position of managing director, Asia Pacific, which will see him responsible for institutional relationship management, consultant relationships, sales activities and marketing and communications in Australia and New Zealand.

Along with Mr Stapleton's appointment, Chris Turpin will move from his current position of global head of product at CFSGAM to managing director, EMEA, while Kanesh Lakhani will move into the role of head of distribution, EMEA, and global consultant relationships.

"All three individuals are highly experienced and have demonstrated a deep understanding of our global business, an unwavering commitment to our clients and an ability to deliver on our strategic priorities," CFSGAM chief executive Mark Lazberger said.

"They are ideally suited to position the business for growth in these challenging markets."

Mr Stapleton has worked within CFSGAM since 1998 and has held a number of roles, including his most recent as regional managing director for Asia and Japan which he has held since 2009.

In his new role, he will continue to oversee the business development and sales activities of CFSGAM in Asia and Japan.

Mr Stapleton also held a role at CFSGAM as head of business development in the UK and worked within the institutional business development team in Melbourne.

Regional managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Joanna Davison, and regional managing director, EMEA, Gary Withers, have left the company.
