Fidelity appoints new senior investment director

Industry veteran Michael Bargholz takes up role

Fidelity Worldwide Investment has appointed Michael Bargholz as senior investment director for Australia.

Mr Bargholz, who has more than 25 years' experience at global investment houses, will work closely with Fidelity's equity and fixed income investment teams around the world.

He previously worked at AllianceBernstein as chief executive and managing director of the group's Australian and New Zealand business for 11 years.

Mr Bargholz, who was deputy chairman of the Financial Services Council between 2010 and 2011, began his career as an economist with the Australian Treasury.

Fidelity Worldwide Investment's managing director, Gerard Doherty, said Mr Bargholz's extensive experience in the global investment marketplace would enhance the company's ability to bring investment solutions to the Australian market.
