The AFA has announced the finalists for the organisation's adviser of the year award.

Six financial advisers, including three female planners, have been named as the finalists for this year's Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) adviser of the year award.

The finalists represent a solid cross-section of Australia with three of the advisers hailing from Victoria, one from New South Wales, one from Queensland and another from Western Australia.

The planners from Victoria are JBS Financial Strategists' Jenny Brown, Beacon Wealth adviser Dennis Jones and Unified Financial Services' Michelle Tate-Lovery.

Clark Pacific Financial Services representative David Clark is from New South Wales while Rando & Associates' Mark Rando resides in Western Australia and Aspire Retire adviser Olivia Maragna is from Queensland.

"I am delighted that as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this award, that the future of advice is in great hands," AFA chief executive Richard Klipin said in a statement.

"We are seeing innovation flourish and practice leadership grow and these finalists are a credit to this profession and the life-changing advice they provide."

The overall winner of the award will be chosen by the award's judging panel.

The panel is made up of AFA president Brad Fox, AFA chief executive Richard Klipin, Riskinfo director Peter Sobels, Encore Group managing director Graham Peatey, Beddoes Institute leading practices program director Dr Rebecca Sheils, Zurich life and investment head of sales Kristine Wade and Zurich Financial Services sales strategies and research national manager Marc Fabris.

The winner of the award will be announced at the AFA national conference next month on the Gold Coast.
