Colonial First State Global Asset Management has stepped up its focus on managing its relationship with research consultants, adding a new manager to its business development team.

Investment manager Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) has hired Tracey McNaughton as manager of consultant relationships.

McNaughton will work in the firm's fixed interest, credit and cash team.

In the job, she will be responsible for managing the review and ratings process with research consultants within these asset classes.

She will essentially act as a conduit between consultants and portfolio management teams.

McNaughton previously worked at Scotland-based investment manager Baillie Gifford as a client relationship manager and also as a fixed income manager.

The appointment follows CFSGAM's review of its relationships with consultants, which resulted in the establishment of asset class specialists who were assigned to key asset classes.

The team is now led by head of business development and consultant relationships Matt Russell.
