Feedback from advisers has prompted Consultum to revise its advice documents, the dealer group says.

Dealer group Consultum Financial Advisers (Consultum) is in talks with a third party to rewrite its advice documents using plain English.

"The problem we have in the industry is that we all write them ourselves and we get caught up in our own speak," Consultum head Stuart Abley said.

"We're almost there. We're talking to somebody at the moment. It's at the early stages at the moment."

Abley was not able to comment on who the firm is in talks with.

Feedback from the dealer group's advisers prompted the decision to simplify and improve the firm's advice documents, he said.

"Probably the only area really that we get feedback on constantly is to simplify and improve the statement of advice, make it clear and concise and reduce the length of it," Abley said.

Consultum intends to test run the revised advice documents with select clients before rolling the documents out across the dealer network.
