The head of AMP Capital Investors' new investment group has been named.

AMP Capital Investors has appointed David Kiddie to lead its newly-formed multi-asset group.

The multi-asset group includes the AMP business's strategy and economics, future directions and funds and structured teams.

"David has a wealth of experience across the majority of global equity markets and has spent many years investing throughout Europe on behalf of institutional and retail clients," AMP Capital Investors managing director Stephen Dunne said.

"As head of the multi-asset group, he will lead a highly-experienced division that is one of Australia's leaders in multi-asset and multi-manager solutions. This group will expand its capabilities to offer a range of client solutions utilising the full breadth of its capabilities," he said.

Kiddie brings 25 years of investment management experience to his new position.

He joins AMP from AllenbridgeEPIC Investment Advisers in the UK, where he was senior investment adviser.

Kiddie has also worked for the UK businesses of ABN AMRO Asset Management and Rothschild Asset Management/Insight Investment. He was chief investment officer at each firm.

In addition, he was in charge of Eurpoean equities at Hill Samuel Asset Management and Sun Life Investment Management.

Kiddie has also overseen all equity products for Baring Asset Management and has held positions at Enskilda Securities, Baring International Investment and Chemical Bank.
