Goldman Sachs has bolstered its Australian equities team with the hire of Dion Hershan as head of the division.

Goldman Sachs JBWere Asset Management (GSJBWAM) has bolstered its Australian equities team with the hire of Dion Hershan as head of the division.

In his new role, Hershan will be responsible for GSJBWAM's fundamental equities funds and will work with the investment team to focus on the firm's stock selection process.

"As our business expands its range of offerings to clients, it is important to ensure we are well resourced across all our investment capabilities, including infrastructure, property, equities and fixed interest," GSJBWAM chief investment Andrew Cooke said.

"Our ability to pursue new ideas and strong performance comes from the experience of our team and the overlapping nature of our generalist/specialist structure."

Hershan joins GSJBWAM from the Goldman Sachs JBWere Proprietary Trading team.

Prior to his current role, Hershan worked as an analyst and fund manager in the US funds management industry with Fidelity Investments and Citadel Investment group.
