Chan moved from his role as head of Asia

Ascalon Capital Managers has hired Chuak Chan as chief executive officer based in Hong Kong.

Mr Chan was initially appointed as Ascalon Asia head in July 2011 to establish the Asian business of Ascalon Capital Managers.

Ascalon director David Lees, said with 25 years' experience in the asset management industry, including 13 years in Asia, Mr Chan is ideally suited to the role.

"He has successfully established several businesses in multiple countries and has operated at a senior management level at a major institution and a boutique firm," Mr Lees said.

Before joining Ascalon, Mr Chan was co-founder and chief operating officer of a leading hedge fund in Hong Kong.

Prior to this, he worked for 10 years at ING Investment Management, where his roles included chief risk officer for its Asia Pacific investment management business, and regional head of business development.

Ascalon has also appointed Jason Collins as chief operating officer, reporting to Mr Chan.

Mr Collins, who has been a senior member of Ascalon team and a major contributor to Ascalon's steady success, will continue to lead Ascalon's Australian business and be responsible for all key relationships in Australia.
