The Trust Company has appointed a new chief financial officer having completed its senior staff restructure.

The Trust Company has completed its executive restructure with the appointment of Shailendra Singh as chief financial officer.

Singh will take over from David Grbin who was appointed executive general manager of corporate client services in July.

"We are always looking for talent but at the executive level this completes the team," The Trust Company chief executive John Atkin told InvestorDaily.

"With David moving into the corporate role there was a gap in the chief financial officer role so we needed to fill that."

Singh, who will begin his role on 3 September, joins from Perpetual where he held the role as chief financial officer of private wealth.

Prior to joining Perpetual, he was head of finance at Colonial First State.

Singh has also held a number of senior financial executive roles in the Commonwealth Bank's broader wealth management business.

In July, The Trust Company announced its management model restructure would result in the managing director of its Guardian Trust entity, John Botica, departing the group.

As part of the restructure, The Trust Company reshuffled a number of executive positions within the group, including the new appointment for Grbin.

In related Trust Company news, Atkin was yesterday appointed to the Financial Services Advisory Council (FSAC) by federal treasurer Wayne Swan for a two-year term.

In this role, Atkin will work with other FSAC members to provide advice to the Treasurer on a range of issues in the financial sector such as implementation of new regulatory arrangements, new developments, cost effectiveness and compliance costs.

"I am looking forward to contributing. We have an interest how the Australian financial services sector works but with our business in New Zealand and in Singapore, we can see how it is happening in other places and we can give that perspective," Atkin said.
