Zurich Financial Services Australia has strengthened its investments team with three new appointments as part of its strategy to continue to expand the level of expertise in its investment business.

Former Macquarie Private Wealth head of money market Angus Crennan has been appointed as an investment specialist.

In his new role, Crennan will be responsible for the day-to-day accountability of Zurich's equity products and for providing investment commentary to financial advisers and investors of Zurich's managed funds.

He will report to senior investments specialist Patrick Noble.

"The experience and knowledge that we have gained in appointing Angus will enable us to expand on our investment specialist expertise to provide superior support to financial advisers," Zurich investments general manager Matthew Drennan said.

"Angus' appointment will allow the investments team to continue to source one-of-a-kind investment offerings from local and global investment managers in line with our business model to deliver the best funds in each asset class."

Drennan said Zurich had also boosted the investments team with the appointment of Caitriona Mulhall as business development manager for New South Wales and Don Surjan as regional manager for Western Australia.

"They will focus on building strong working relationships with both customers and intermediaries, while also contributing to business development and customer relationships," he said.

"These appointments will bolster our already strong investment presence and enable us to achieve even greater market penetration."

Mulhall joins Zurich from LV Asset Management in London, while Surjan joins from AMP and Hillross.
