Yellow Brick Road has increased its financial planning network by a third in the past eight months.

Financial services company Yellow Brick Road (YBR) has grown its number of branches from 30 in February to almost 40 to date, the group has announced.

A YBR spokesperson said the company still planned to grow its points of representation to 52 along the eastern seaboard and expand its footprint to Western Australia and South Australia once its New South Wales, Queensland and Victorian businesses were running smoothly.

"We've got a dozen potentials in the pipeline and our plans to increase adviser numbers are on track as well," the spokesperson said.

As part of the business' strategy to strengthen and grow its wealth management division, former Mercer Wealth Solutions head of financial planning, Scott Walters, joined the group this week to fulfil the newly created position of retail head of financial planning.

YBR executive chairman Mark Bouris said Walters' appointment came at an important time in the growth of the group's wealth management division.

"Scott brings with him a proven track record in building and leading financial planning businesses, as well as two decades of experience across the financial services sector," Bouris said.

"I've always been a believer in the importance of high quality, affordable and accessible financial advice for all Australians - that's what Yellow Brick Road is all about, and Scott's appointment will allow us to continue to offer that service to more and more people."

As part of the new role, Walters will be responsible for leading and growing all aspects of the retail network's financial planning service, working in partnership with the group's home loans, accounting and tax, and insurance services.
