William Buck hires a new manager to lead its existing risk insurance team.

Accounting and wealth advisory firm William Buck has appointed Adelaide-based risk insurance advisor Karyn Hilton to the newly created position of manager of risk insurance.

As well as overseeing the existing risk insurance team within William Buck's wealth advisory division, Hilton will be working across the whole firm to offer risk insurance services to business advisory clients requiring assistance in this area.

William Buck director Dennis Laundy said while William Buck had offered risk insurance services for many years, it was pleased to now have a dedicated specialist in this area.

Hilton, who was formerly a registered nurse, joined the financial planning industry in 2002 and went on to become the principal of her own advisory practice.

Deciding to specialise in risk insurance in 2008, she then joined another advice business as a risk insurance manager, where she established the firm's risk management division.

Hilton said she enjoyed working in insurance because she had seen first hand as a nurse and as a financial planner the impact too little or no insurance had on families in instances of sickness, injury or death.

"I will be providing William Buck clients with not only a policy to protect them and their families but I'll be their first point of contact when they need to make a claim, and will manage this process for them to make it stress free and simple," Hilton said.

"There are many things that can be missed or misinterpreted when making a claim and getting it right can be the difference between being compensated or not."

Laundy said Hilton's skill set was unique and that the business was excited about extending its current risk insurance service offering to all clients.
